Smaps was offically closed down by TradeMe yesterday and replaced it with Google Maps. Trademe is pretty fast to enhance the Google Maps's new feature street view released in New Zealand today.
The switch lets users of TradeMe Property and its travel accommodation site Travelbug make the most of Google's new Street View programme. Street View is a unique Google Maps feature that allows users of the online software to view 360-degree photographs of the surroundings from a street level. The incorporation of Google's Street View should definitely make house or holiday hunting easier.

Google is so powerful to make its products free, why not use it!
This is a significant enhancement for the real estate industry and both our site www.realestate.co.nz and Trade me has implemented this day one.
What still amazes me every day is the fact that despite the power of the internet in the marketing of real estate (80+% of all real estate searches start online) there are large portions of the industry still do not detail the address of the property!
As at today we have just 50,000 homes for sale on our site from the 80,000 in total (out of 114,000 listings) that have an address and therefore a Street View image.
yep,it is perfect timing for TradeMe to drop Smaps just one day before Google Map launched its street view in NZ, they just simply keep up with Google's innovations.
